MISS LADII'S MIXTAPE REVIEW: Meek Mill "Flamerz 3" -- RATED C+

So Meek Mill finally drops the long awaited Flamerz 3... the followup to Flamerz 2.5; Hosted by the DJ Drama, the public can now rest because "The Wait Is Over".  With much hype surrounded by this mixtape,  countless push backs and many wondering just when is it gonna drop, we finally have it for our listenin' pleasure.  The question however is does this project live up to the hype that it created?  You be the judge (feel free to listen above), but in my opinion, Flamerz 3 doesn't (Sorry Meek) and here's why:

Meeks 3rd EP features 19 full tracks with 3 skits along with ya standard Intro/Outro.  The majority of the production was done by Jahlil Beats as featured on tracks (4, 10-13, 16 and 22).  While I respect an artist for sticking with those who've given you hits before ( I'm So Fly, Hottest In the City and the newest Willy Wonka), when you stick with the same production, you run the risk of getting songs that all sound the same hence the the so called new tracks "Rose Red" and "Make Em Say" sound pretty recycled. Let the record state:  I don't knock these 2 songs because they are indeed good club jawns (as affectionately said by those from Philly) but its more or less like "been there, done that, on to the next one".

Of the 21 songs on the project, in my opinion "Philadelphia Born & Raised" is by FAR the best cut on here.  While I was appalled (yea i said appalled, in fact utterly annoyed)  by Meeks' lyrics over the classic "It Takes Two", I can say that I was rather impressed because not only did he sample a classic theme song (Fresh Prince of Bel-Air)  and flip it, but he made it work. This song features some of Philly's Finest (Young Chris, Freeway and Black Thought) and it pays homage to the city that birthed and raised them.  Other features on this project also include Gillie the Kid, Oschino and a host of others.

If  I had NOT heard Flamerz 2, prior to hearing Flamerz 3, I would say that Flamerz 3 is pretty decent, HOWEVER, seeing that I have, I can't.  Judging the content on Flamerz 3, it sounds too similar to Flamerz 2, thus i question where is the progression.... I say this with a disclaimer because I will be honest in saying that I haven't heard Flamerz 2.5, but in my opinion I don't have to.  Correct me if I'm wrong but all I've heard is the same delivery of  " Money, Pussy, Hatin and I've Been To Jail " and while this may be the life that he leads, I can say "im over it... i need more"

Out of 21 Tracks, 6/21 I  Like and 3 are mediocre that I'll give a pass to, so its gets a 9/21 = 48% Listener Satisfaction... Overall I'll Give it a C+ because  "Philadelphia Born and Raised" is my Shit (although I'm not a Philly Native) and because I can shake my ass rather well to "Rose Red" & "Make Em Say". So there you have it...
