Took a long hiatus and I hope you can forgive me... Too many things have been goin on, but here's something for ya... My latest review for Joe Budden's latest "Mood Muzik 4"... Pardon the rustyness as I brush the dirt off my blogging fingers..
This is perhaps one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write.. separating my opinion of an individual as an artist versus them an individual... For the record, let me state that I LOVE Joe Budden as an artist, he is perhaps one of the most underrated artists in the game, and I even have him listed in my TOP 10 however as a person, I think he's just a fucking asshole...But none the less, lets stick to the facts at hand... the music.... so here we go....
Mood Muzik 4 features 14 tracks and appearances from Styles. P, Pusha T, Royce Da 5'9, Joell Ortiz, Fabolous, Lloyd Banks and others .... From beginning to end, I think Joey delivers in a way that only he can... The way he paints a story through your speakers and evokes emotion is uncanny.. While many have often viewed his music as "depressing", I however disagree... While I do think his emotions are bipolar and all over the place, I think it's one of the beautiful things that defines him as an artist as there is no other artist that comes to mind that I could compare him to.
From the intro "Pray for Me" to the outro "If All Else Fails", I can say that the only tracks I "disliked" the most were the "Aftermath" and "Remember the Titans", however I I can listen to this project front to back without demanding to "skip or hit next" I think the features on RTT could've had a stronger delivery (Fab) or I would've been satisfied with just Royce, Lloyd and Joey on this song... My favorite track is "Inseperable" which features the vocals of Mela Machinko. Not only is Mela Machinko singing her ass off, but I think this song is the most emotionally laced of them all as it speaks on a multitude of things (listen and you figure it out)
